I want to be remembered as the girl who always smiles even when her heart is broken, and the one that could always brighten up your day even if she couldn't brighten her own.

Anyways, I am a female gamer as well. I play World of Warcraft mainly, and I hear this everywhere, "You're a girl? You must be fat...or something". It's just sad really. Because I'm not fat, nor am I ugly (at least according to my fiance). But guys will be guys and children will be children. Most male AND female gamers nowadays that I come across seem to be incompetent children anyways, at least in the WoW community. ):

But yeah, I'm not sure how 'girl gamer' got such a bad rep. I had never even known that girl gamers had such a bad rep until I started going through gaming pics on here. I was honestly shocked by how many stamps there are against girl gamers. I also think that because of the stereotype that this is turning into that it'll make it harder for other girls to get into some of the more... male based games, such as most of the FPS'. Especially since Newb and Noob have come to mean the same thing to many of the gamers, though they aren't the same thing.
And as for WoW, do you play Alliance or Horde? I've played both sides and I find that Horde players tend to be more forgiving to everyone but A-holes (not that they don't have a few of their own).
I think a way to stop this stereotype in the making is for girls to stop claiming they're girls right off the bat and earn respect by playing WELL. Once you've got that respect they are usually surprised to find that you're a girl.
I have alot of friends that I talk games with, I don't hide it with my RL friends, heck I've had them come to me to give them game suggestions, and I've never had them seem surprised that I'm a gamer, though I am a bit oblivious sometimes and I come from a small town so I knew these guys from middle school half the time. I almost want to see what a guy looks like surprised that I'm a gamer. Maybe I'll find out in the future. lol.
But jeez, I've never ran into a guy online that asks me if I'm ugly or obesse or anything like that when they find out I'm a girl so I was kind of surprised to see so many guys saying it here and girls saying that they've had that said to them. Though I kind of want that said to me now. lol. I feel out of place. >XD
I may pick it up again later but idk right now lol
And yeah, I know what you mean, the immaturity online is absolutely ridiculous and so is the assuming
That's why there are so many hate comments on this, people just automatically assume that all I do is talk about gaming and how I'm overcoming adversity with my vagina -.-
I've met those players and most of them are children, it's just ridiculous for people to assume you're one of them as soon as you say you're a girl.
Either that or ugly -.-
